Our Story

Ruca 83 was originally created in the high elevation of Colorado Springs, Colorado, when Hunter Morrill and Easton Budge conceived the idea. When in search of a new band name, they came across the word “Ruca,” meaning “my love” in Mexican/Southern California slang, and “83,” the highway number near where both Hunter and Easton lived. Together, Ruca 83 was interpreted in their minds as if saying, “our love is our home.”

We released our first single, “Goodbye Song,” in 2020 alongside other original band members Cole Draper and Rory Glassford. After a two-year mission, other original band members pursued other passions. Easton wanted to continue pushing Ruca 83 forward. In college, Easton quickly became good friends with John McConkie. With their shared love for music, Easton soon invited John to join in on the fun. After releasing two new songs in 2023, “Grandma Always Says” and “Meet the Robinsons,” they began playing live shows. Soon, James Call (drums) and Will Chipman (guitarist) joined the band, adding their own unique musical perspectives to Ruca.

Since then, our reach has only expanded, and our passion for music continues to deepen. With the release of our new single, “Tahoe,” we start the countdown for our upcoming EP dropping this fall. We currently reside in Utah, studying at school while we prepare for live performances and perfect our upcoming songs as we anticipate the release of our EP.
